Early years foundation stage - EXPRESSIVE ARTS & DESIGN

My Pikachua

More Artwork & Colour Mixing!

A vibrant landscape featuring mountains, a river, and a clear blue sky, showcasing nature's beauty.

I just love this picture! It's a drawing by a little 4-year-old of her favorite toy, Pikachu, who was sitting next to her as she created this artwork. It's amazing to see such creativity—it's clear we have a budding artiste in our midst! This is a wonderful example of expressive arts and design that aligns beautifully with colour mixing activities in the early years foundation stage.

One of our favourite activities in the early years foundation stage is drawing, practising our letters, and engaging in colour mixing activities - it's so much fun and a wonderful way to explore expressive arts and design!

Monsters!

A scenic view of mountains under a clear blue sky with green trees in the foreground, showcasing natural beauty.

We loved engaging in colour mixing activities while drawing our yellow monster – we spent lots of time drawing and colouring it in as part of our expressive arts and design activities during the early years foundation stage!

Beaches!

A serene landscape featuring mountains, a clear sky, and a tranquil lake reflecting the scenery.

We have loved engaging in colour mixing activities and drawing about things and places that mean a lot to us, especially the beach with its gorgeous yellow sand, which is perfect for the early years foundation stage and expressive arts and design.

Oh, we love engaging in colour mixing activities while drawing faces and creating monsters as part of our expressive arts and design within the early years foundation stage!

We have spent lots of time recently engaging in colour mixing activities with our cotton reels, which have also been instrumental in enhancing our very small motor skills and supporting the expressive arts and design components of the early years foundation stage.

Junk Modelling

Pencil Movements & Control

Pencil Movements & Control

We loved creating all sorts of models from junk through what we call Junk Modelling, a fantastic way to engage in colour mixing activities within the early years foundation stage. We absolutely love doing it, as it fosters creativity in the realm of expressive arts and design!

Pencil Movements & Control

Recently, we have focused on refining our pencil movements during our colour mixing activities, ensuring we stay within the lines while we colour. These slow and controlled movements are a great way to support the development outlined in the early years foundation stage. We are doing really well in expressing ourselves through these activities in expressive arts and design!
